Rye Brook

Why Live Here?
“Green” and “Clean” are two words we hear a lot when residents are talking about reasons they love living in Rye Brook, for good reason. There are almost 100 acres of parks in the village that offer athletic fields, tennis and basketball courts and walking, jogging and dog walking paths, and people in this small community take care of their pristine village.

Rye Brook was incorporated in 1982, making it Westchester County’s newest municipality, a process that involved most residents who said then and still say now that the village is not a sprawling suburb but instead gives residents the feeling of living in an extended family that has a “community heart.” This leafy village is tucked between Harrison, Port Chester and Greenwich, Connecticut, and is served by two school districts. Most students from Rye Brook attend the Blind Brook public schools. A smaller number attend the Port Chester public schools.

While Rye Brook doesn’t have a major downtown, it does have two large shopping areas that offer the necessities of life, like grocery stores, dry cleaners and pharmacies, along with charming shops and specialty stores, and a plethora of dining choices. Surrounding these areas are residential neighborhoods that offer everything from newer construction to post-World War II homes, along with spacious condos and town homes, mostly all providing walkability to shopping areas and schools.

Rye Brook also has landmark spots, like Ward Castle, the world’s first known reinforced concrete building. Although now privately owned and not open to the public, the grounds surrounding the castle are beautiful, and the architecture of the castle itself a must-see. Also amazing is the mansion at Crawford Park. The mansion is available for special events, and is surrounded by extraordinary grounds that include a sunken garden and the seasonal blooming of hundreds of flowers, and a renovated stone wall and countless indigenous plants. It’s a performance venue that draws both nationally-renowned and local talent.

Why We Love It!
Heard an awesome Music at the Mansion performance yesterday – you have to go! It’s a beautiful setting and the acoustics are great! – Anthony

Just got back from Rye Ridge Shopping Center – my new healthy place to go. Strengthen Lengthen Tone has a great Soul Cycle class and I signed up for Pilates – and then picked up dinner to go from the Organic Pharmer. Perfect! – Sandi
