Elmsford

Why Live Here?
Elmsford is a bustling, diverse village situated in the Town of Greenburgh. Although small in size at about 1.1 square miles, Elmsford has its own school district, a number of commercial and industrial businesses, very nice outdoor spaces, and several popular “things to do” venues that attract residents and those from neighboring villages and towns, too. One of Westchester County’s more affordable areas, Elmsford has a wide selection of homes, some split-levels and Cape Cods built mid-20th century or before, and some more recent construction, with a mixture of larger, older homes and newer condominiums rounding out the residential options.

Getting around is easy with a well-connected road system that gets you into New York City or to business areas in other parts of Westchester County and Connecticut. While Elmsford does not have its own train station, commuters who prefer rail travel catch their trains at the nearby White Plains Metro North station. The former train tracks through Elmsford were converted to the South and North County Trailway, a wonderful park with great biking and hiking paths that goes on for 14 miles, through other villages in the area.

Right in town, the Westchester Skating Academy offers public skating time and lessons, and is the venue for youth and adult hockey. Carol Nichols Park provides facilities for baseball, basketball, tennis and softball, and a “kiddie park” for small children, and the Elmsford Raceway is a lot of fun for enthusiasts who steer miniature, electric-powered replicas of full-size cars around the track. The Greenburgh Public Library, renovated in 2009 into a bright, open facility, is situated in Elmsford and is a big community draw. It offers, in addition to quiet reading and study spaces, storytime for little ones, English for Speakers of Other Languages classes, music classes, and even a Philosophical Breakfast Group. Book groups are popular, and programs like drawing and sketching classes and poetry classes are plentiful.

A cluster of stores, business operations and executive parks are located in town, along with a variety of diverse restaurants, fast food options, and the Greenburgh multiplex movie theater.

Why We Love It!
We had so much fun at Sportime USA! The kids did rock climbing and bumper cars and really loved a turn in the batting cage. It’s great that there is a restaurant there so we could have lunch and spend a longer time and have a big day out. ~ Anthony

What a luxury to have dinner and see a Broadway show without having to travel into Manhattan! The Westchester Broadway Theater casts Broadway performers and the shows are top-notch. Dinner was excellent, and it’s fun to sit at tables to watch the show. We’ll be back to try one of their concerts, next time. ~ Kristen
